Lance is an experienced elementary and secondary teacher with nearly a decade of experience as a technical writer and courseware developer at Intel and Microsoft. He has worked extensively on a component of the Everyday Mathematics curriculum known as photo essays. Photo essays are elements within each student reference book meant to stimulate interest in mathematical concepts by highlighting real-world applications of those concepts. While doing this work, he was in close collaboration with the leaders of EM development.
Lance has also designed, written, and led the development of a wide variety of Science Companion topics at many elementary grade levels. During the last few years, he has been responsible for developing and re-designing Science Companion topics that adhere to the Next Generation Science Standards. Lance received his Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Stanford University, and his Masters in teaching with endorsements in elementary education and secondary science at Antioch University.
